The Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car, Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a fantastic, cosmopolitan city, with something spectacular to offer every visitor. For most, the Ngong Ping 360 cable car will be the highlight of their visit to Hong Kong. This 5.7km bi-cable ropeway offers passengers a 25 minute panoramic ride across Hong Kong’s beautiful countryside, mountains and bay.


The journey begins from Tung Chung, crossing Tung Chung Bay to reach the angle station on Airport Island, then turning 60 degrees in the air towards North Lantau. Passengers will experience stunning views of the South China Sea and the rolling grassland slopes of North Lantau Country Park from the cable car, along with a panorama of the Hong Kong International Airport, verdant, mountainous terrain of Lantau Island, Tian Tan Buddha and the 360-degree view of Ngong Ping Plateau.
The Ngong Ping 360 cable car is located in Ngong Ping Village, about 30 minutes from Hong Kong city centre.

This village is a culturally themed village that connects to Ngong Ping Plaza, and is set on a scenic 1.5-hectare site on Lantau Island. The village is adjacent to the Ngong Ping Cable Car Terminal, Hong Kong Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery, and can easily be assessable from the city center.

The village offers plenty of amenities and facilities including restaurants and toilets.

The Ngong Ping cable car offers different cabin options.

  • The crystal cabin, which is equipped with a glass bottom, offering passengers a complete 360 view.
  • The private cabin

How to get there

MRT

Fron HongKong City center, catch the Tung Chung line to Tung Chung Station. The cable car terminal is adjacent to MRT’s Tung Chung Station, Two minutes walk from exit B of the station. Total trip will take 30 min.

Bus Service

There are several different bus numbers and companies that operate to Tung Chung and Shun Tung road. Please contact the respective bus companies to find out their timetable and route.

From the Airport, take either bus number S1,S55,S64 and S64x going to Tung Chung terminus.

Taxi

The trip takes approximately 30 min from Hongkong city center and 10min from the Airport, it will cost around hk40$.

Travelling from China

Yes it is possible to travel from China to Ngong Ping Village, this trip can either be made by MRT or shuttle bus. Time varies 40-80 minutes.
